Game 6 of the 2025 World Series is a day away as Rogers Centre prepares to host a crucial game that may put the city of Toronto into a 32-year-in-the-making frenzy. If the city wasn't already buzzing at the thought of a third World Series championship, it'll get even more excited after the news that Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider dropped Thursday to the media.
George Springer "on track" to return for Game 6
During Game 3, Monday night, George Springer was taken out of the game with "right oblique discomfort" after one swing of the bat in the seventh inning. Because of that, Springer also missed Games 4 and 5 as the Blue Jays took a 3-2 series lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers. In speaking with the media, Schneider stated Springer has been feeling much better and was nearly in the lineup for Game 5.

"[Springer] was right on the fence," said Schneider (via Sportsnet's Shi Davidi). "I think he probably could have. I was really juggling what's best for him, what's best for the team, not just immediately to start the game, but kind of how that game may unfold too."
Schneider also noted that Springer "kind of checked every box physically so far," but also wants to ensure he's comfortable returning to action. "Just making sure he feels comfortable and confident [for Game 6], and not just for one at-bat, to go in and compete and get locked into a game," said Schneider (via Sportsnet's Shi Davidi).
Springer was also seen in the ninth inning Wednesday night, preparing to pinch-run for Bo Bichette before he grounded out. Schneider stated, "He (Springer) was close, and he was ready to come in, and I'm glad we didn't need him and got an extra couple of days. Hopefully, he's good to go for Game 6."
This isn't the first time Springer has dealt with an injury scare this postseason. During Game 5 of the ALCS, Seattle Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo hit Springer's kneecap with a fastball, which took him out of the game. Springer responded with the series-clinching three-run home run in Game 7 to send the Blue Jays to the World Series.
Game 6 of the 2025 World Series goes down Friday night in Toronto at 8:08 pm EST.
