Trey Yesavage recently made his professional debut with Dunedin on April 8th and showed exactly what kind of pitcher he can be.

Yesavage went 3 2/3 innings scoreless innings in his first career start for the Dunedin Blue Jays and allowed just one hit with four strikeouts.

The Blue Jays' first round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft will have plenty of eyes on him this season, so it's a great sign to see him produce in his first time pitching under all that pressure.

MLB Pipeline has Yesavage ranked as the team's No. 2 prospect along with being the No. 87 prospect in all of baseball.

Yesavage being that high on the Blue Jays' prospect list is a bit of a double-edged sword since it also shows off how weak the Blue Jays' farm system, but it's still a great sign to see him dazzle in his first organization action.

While Yesavage allowed six walks, he was able to wiggle out of every self-induced jam, which speaks to the strength of his physical and mental makeup.

Yesavage entered the 2024 MLB Draft with a ton of hype around him, and it took one start for us to see why that's the case.

He entered the draft on the back of three strong seasons at East Carolina, punctuated by a 2.03 ERA in his last year in college with a .154 batting average against.

He transitioned to a reliever in his last year of college (and also had a collapsed lung), which is why the Blue Jays' have elected to take their time with his development.

Yesavage made his Blue Jays debut earlier this year with a scoreless outing in the Spring Breakout game, and now seems destined to spend the rest of the year terrorizing minor league hitters.

After making his debut for the Dunedin Blue Jays, Yesavage made his second start on four days rest, which is a bit uncommon in the minor leagues.

In his second start of the year Yesavage allowed three hits and an earned run in four innings and alos had four strikeouts.

The 21 year old means a lot to the Blue Jays' long-term plans. He is a talented right-handed pitcher with a plus fastball, curveball, slider and splitter. He still has some work to do in regards to his control, but he has electric stuff that can help make up for those deficiencies.

While we likely won't see Yesavage in MLB until 2026 (at the earliest), his strong start means that there's a chance that we could see him at Double-or-Triple-A before the season ends.

The Blue Jays rotation is filled with veterans who are near the end of their contracts, so Yesavage's promotion could end up coming at the perfect time for Toronto.
