After May 27's loss to the Texas Rangers, the Toronto Blue Jays were facing uncertainty with the month coming to an end with a 26-28 record at the time. Since then, the Blue Jays have turned their season around, and are 42-36, currently holding down a spot in the Wild Card playoff seeding. That includes a 10-6 win on the road at Progressive Field yesterday to begin their series against the Cleveland Guardians.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette are at it again together again. George Springer has been better. Alejandro Kirk has risen his game drastically, and the pitching has seen some good stretches to hold a Wild Card spot.

Even with holding a Wild Card spot, the race for the AL East Division title against the New York Yankees can be tough with their captain Aaron Judge having a monster year. However, the Blue Jays might have to concede the division title to the Yankees if they land some big named sluggers to an already deep lineup.

Yankees rumored for Arenado and Bregman

Whenever Judge is in a lineup, the lineup is a scary one. Recently, the Yankees have been in rumors to add another big slugger. Two potential sluggers are Nolan Arenado of the St. Louis Cardinals and Alex Bregman of the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees have the assets and money to make a trade happen for either player.

Adding Arenado or Bregman to the Yankees lineup would be downright scary. The Yankees have Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, Ben Rice and Paul Goldschmidt. To top it off, Judge is leading the way.

Arenado has had some struggles in 2025 while playing in St. Louis, but Yankee Stadium could be the perfect hitter's park for him to get his home run numbers back up. A thing that can help Arenado draw interest in playing with the Yankees is he was teammate's with Goldschmidt in St. Louis, so the two have some chemistry.

Bregman has been a monster in the postseason, helping the Houston Astros win the World Series twice during his tenure there. The Yankees have been unable to get over the hump to win a World Series in the Judge era, and Bregman can deliver big for the Yankees.

The Blue Jays likely don't have the assets to trade for Arenado or Bregman. It might be in best interest for the Blue Jays to let the core run it for as long as it can, and make a sneaky trade deadline acquisition instead of going after a big name.

With Arenado and Bregman both being third basemen who can slug, it looked as if the Blue Jays might be in the market for a guy just like this. However, they have gotten a rise in production from their third baseman Ernie Clement. Although his power numbers aren't the best, he has a .310 average, is third on the team in hits and is second on the team in doubles.

The AL East race isn't over, but the Yankees can sure make it feel like it's over if they add Arenado or Bregman at the trade deadline.
