One of the key storylines this offseason that everyone will be closely monitoring will be whether or not star shortstop Bo Bichette will return to the Toronto Blue Jays. As one of the main driving forces of the Blue Jays offense in each of the past seven seasons, the lasting impact of Bichette departing from the organization can not be underestimated.

Especially after taking a look at what the internal and free agent market options are, there is no way that Toronto would find an ideal replacement that could fully make up for what Bichette brings to the team. However, despite MLB insider Bob Nightengale giving the reassurance that Bichette will likely remain with Toronto, the latest rumors could actually have Blue Jays fans starting to panic.

Blue Jays Rumors: Is Bo Bichette Big Apple bound?

According to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, Bichette had quietly suggested the potential of joining the Blue Jays arch rivals New York Yankees in the near future. Simmons stated, “Bichette told everyone who would listen that he wants to stay a Blue Jay as free agency approaches. He wants to continue his World Series quest with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He said that publicly while quietly telling some people he wouldn’t mind playing in New York in the future. The immediate future.”

Assuming the claim being made has some actual substance to it, the idea of losing Bichette would already be a hard pill to swallow for Blue Jays fans and the organization as a whole. But to do so potentially to their hated division rivals in the Yankees would feel like a severe punch to the gut.

Not only would the Blue Jays’ offense be weakened, but New York would have a much better, more well rounded lineup with Bichette on board to team up with Aaron Judge and company. After all, the two-time All-Star is a perennial .300 hitter, having led the AL twice in hits, along with the ability to come through in clutch moments time and time again.

The Blue Jays will hope that they have one thing working for them, in the fact that Bichette had previously expressed and reiterated wanting to stay in Toronto to win with his buddy Guerrero. But for now, we can only wait and see as the rumors will continue to swirl every day until Bichette finally makes his ultimate decision.
