When MLB Pipeline recently came out with their updated 2026 top 30 prospects list for the Toronto Blue Jays, there were quite a few changes in player rankings compared to the one from 2025. The top five remained relatively the same, with Johnny King and Ricky Tiedemann switching spots between the No. 4 and No. 5 positions.

However, one of the biggest jumps in the Blue Jays’ system belonged to a prospect with crazy power in the name of Juan Sanchez. Despite being only 18 years old, Sanchez moved up 11 spots from No. 18 in 2025 all the way up to No. 7 ahead of the 2026 season. That certainly speaks volumes about his abilities and potential already at such a young age. In fact, he has been rated by MLB Pipeline to having the best power among all prospects within the Blue Jays organization.

Sanchez was signed as an international free agent by Toronto just last year in 2025. Scouting reports initially have the young infielder possessing a 55 grade tool for power, 50 grade tool for running and an elite 60 grade tool for his arm. Having already grown into a strongly built frame coming in at six foot three, Sanchez profiles to be a power slugger when he eventually makes it to the big show.

In fact, Sanchez has already seen his stock skyrocket with just one baseball season under his belt. At just 17-years-old at the time, he played for Blue Jays Red in the Dominican Summer League and put his raw skills and abilities on full display. In 56 games, Sanchez posted a stellar .341 batting average, 1.004 OPS, along with 47 runs scored, 16 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 40 RBIs and four stolen bases. In doing so, he captured DOSL All-Star and Player of the Week honours along the way. What better way to start his career than to put up impressive numbers and getting recognized for his excellence right from the get-go.

Despite not having even played in A-ball, Sanchez is already making a name for himself as he aims to ascend the Blue Jays minor league system rapidly in the coming years. If everything goes to plan, Toronto could have the next Carlos Delgado on their hands.

But with his added speed and defense, Sanchez has the potential to even become a five-tool star for the Blue Jays for years to come. As they say, good things are worth waiting for, so Sanchez hopefully will be worth the wait for Toronto and their fans.
