The Toronto Blue Jays had their own magical run in 2025 when they went from worst to first in the AL East during the regular season and powered their way to the World Series for the first time in 32 years. Canada's World Junior hockey team is now hoping that some of the Blue Jays magic can rub off on them in their quest for a gold medal.
The Blue Jays have gracefully lent their home run horn, the sound that goes off whenever a Blue Jays player hits a home run at Rogers Centre, to the Canadian hockey squad to use after the goals that they score during the World Juniors. That horn is followed by an excerpt playing of “Courage” by the Tragically Hip, according to Mark Masters of TSN.
Blue Jays will play a role in Canada’s World Juniors gold medal hopes
During the 2025 regular season, Blue Jays fans heard the sound of the horn 104 times as Toronto ranked tied for 8th overall in the entire league in home runs hit at home. Some of the round-trippers had come in pivotal moments of the game, with the most notable one being Addison Barger going back-to-back with Bo Bichette to walk off the Arizona Diamondbacks in the bottom of the ninth inning back in mid-June. Just for good measure, the horn also went off a bonus 54 times following regular season home wins by Toronto.
As for during the MLB Playoffs, Blue Jays fans were treated to the horn blast another 16 times at Rogers Centre to lead all playoff contenders in home round-trippers. But of course, the one that everyone will no doubt remember the most for now and forever is the George Springer come-from-behind three-run shot to push Toronto past the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the ALCS to make it to the World Series.
The Blue Jays followed the sound of their home run horn to great success in 2025, so hopefully it will bring much of the same success to Canada’s World Junior team this season. After all, the Canadian hockey squad are coming into this tournament with consecutive fifth place finishes. As a result, any token of luck to help the team get past the hump and reach the gold medal game once again would be more than welcomed. And they are off to a good start with a 7-5 win over Czechia on Friday (Dec. 26).

But one thing is for sure, in addition to the Blue Jays home run horn, the Canadian World Junior team will have the entire nation behind them as hockey fans everywhere will root on Canada’s best young players to get the job done this time around.
