During the 2025 ALDS, Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was practically on top of the baseball world when he nearly single-handedly dismantled the New York Yankees in the short series.
By going 9-for-17 for a .529 average, 1.609 OPS, along with five runs scored, three home runs and nine RBIs in just four games, it made the Yankees look like the laughing stock of the league when they kept pitching to him, leading to their ultimate demise.
However, once the ALCS began, the Seattle Mariners appeared to have the answer for Guerrero. In fact, they shut him down for good in the first two games when he went 0-for-7 with just one walk in eight plate appearances. In doing so, Yankees nation did their best to tease Vladdy on social media by rubbing in his performance here.
Blue Jays made sure Yankees fans don’t get last laugh about Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in ALCS

Perhaps that was exactly what Guerrero and the Blue Jays needed as the ridicule definitely lit a fire for both parties for Game 3 of the ALCS. Consequently, the Blue Jays star first baseman made sure the Yankees weren’t going to get the last laugh by promptly silencing them by busting out of his slump in a huge way.
On Wednesday, Guerrero went a blazing 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two doubles, a home run, an RBI and one intentional walk in five plate appearances, coming up just a triple shy of the cycle. He had his chance for it in the top of the eighth inning, but despite the urge and will from the TV commentators, he chose to just cruise into second to settle with the double.

Nevertheless, hitting for the cycle aside, now only did Guerrero find his groove but the entire Blue Jays team got their offensive mojo back as they scattered 18 hits and scored a whopping 13 runs off a tight Mariners squad.
If Toronto manages to perform like this each time they are teased for their poor play, then we are definitely here for it. As for Guerrero, one big night suddenly made his ALCS numbers much more better looking than they were 24 hours ago.
Now with a booming .364 average, 1.280 OPS, along with three runs scored, one home run and one RBI with zero strikeouts, just like that he appears back on track to how he was performing in the ALDS. But one thing is for sure, with Vladdy playing at his best for the Blue Jays, the Yankees will never get the last laugh whether it be in the regular season or postseason.
