We've talked for months now about how barren the Toronto Blue Jays' farm system is, and there seems to be no improvement in sight. Not yet, anyway. Addison Barger, Orelvis Martinez and Ricky Tiedemann were the club's only top-100 prospects heading into the 2024 regular season.

Barger graduated with his time in the big leagues. He's going to be a big-league contributor from here on out and is in-line for an Opening Day roster spot in 2025. Martinez also made it up to The Show but had his season derailed by a PED suspension, and Tiedemann was bogged down by repeated trips to the injured list.

The Blue Jays snagged Trey Yesavage in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft and in MLB Pipeline's latest top-100 update, he's the only Jay to crack the list. Tiedemann is out and so is Martinez.

Yesavage, 21, was the 20th-overall selection in this year's draft and has been tabbed by many as one of the steals of the draft. He's supposed to turn into a top-shelf starting pitcher, but we did not get any looks at him in affiliated ball post-draft. His first appearance in 2025 will be his first as a professional.

Getting the right-hander reps is going to be huge, and seeing him develop will be a treat for years to come. However, the fact that he's the only Blue Jays player featured in the top-100 is more than a little bit concerning. There simply doesn't seem to be a whole lot of hype surrounding the organization right now, especially down on the farm.

The Blue Jays have already begun to clear house when it comes to their player development department. Things are going to a look much different on the personnel front starting next year, so perhaps it's just a matter of getting some new blood in there to inject some life into the system.

At the trade deadline this year, the Jays did a solid job at turning their rentals into players that could be legitimate big-league contributors down the line. Joey Loperfido and Will Wagner are legit, while Charles McAdoo and Jake Bloss are two players that will surely get some looks at the game's highest level as soon as next year.

The hype is relatively low right now, and it's disappointing to see the lack of Blue Jays on MLB's top-100. However, there are plenty of changes going on throughout the organization and it at least seems like steps are being taken to correct this and get things trending in the right direction. Only time will tell whether this improves or if the club remains stuck in neutral.
