For four years, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Teoscar Hernandez were nearly inseparable.
While Hernandez had already been a Blue Jays for one year prior to Guerrero getting his call-up in 2019, the two clicked right away and helped lead the Blue Jays in a new era that featured plenty of winning.
While they were never able to help get the Blue Jays over the hump in a playoff series, they supplied Canada with plenty of jaw-dropping homers and memorable moments.
And, according to Hernandez, it created a bond that the two still have to this day.
Blue Jays fans will miss Teoscar Hernandez more after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. comments
Hernandez made an appearance on Mookie Betts' podcast earlier this week, where the two Dodgers' teammates talked about a plethora of topics, Guerrero being one of them.
Betts asked Hernandez which MLB player he enjoys watching the most, and Hernandez wasted no time answering.
Mi compadre Vladdy," he said with a smile.
Hernandez's answer makes sense considering he had a front row seat to the start of Guerrero's career, and was always one of Guerrero's biggest supporters.
“Honestly, I’m not impressed. Because I know he can do that and more.”

That support has had to come from afar for the past three-plus seasons, as the Blue Jays traded Hernandez to the Mariners head of the 2023 season a year before Hernandez was slated to hit free agency.
After a strong year in Seattle, Hernandez signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers, who went on to win the 2024 World Series. He re-upped in Los Angeles in the offseason on a three-year deal, though it did seem like the Blue Jays had some interest in bringing him back.
After Hernandez brought up Guerrero, Betts moved the conversation to the $500 million extension that Guerrero signed earlier this season.
While that extension is something that was likely a topic of conversation in the Dodgers' clubhouse (and in every clubhouse across MLB), this is the first time we've gotten to hear Hernandez talk about it in public.
And it led Hernandez to tell a story about how Guerrero bought Hernandez a backpack after Guerrero won the 2023 Home Run Derby (which was also the first year that Hernandez was on the Dodgers.
But now Hernandez said that Guerrero wants to upgrade his gift-giving game thanks to his extension.
"He wants to buy me a Richard Millie watch," Hernandez said with a laugh. "I said compadre just give me the money it's okay."
While Hernandez has made plenty of money in his MLB career (his contract with the Dodgers was for $66 million), Guerrero's extension was record-setting.
And while Hernandez's remarks about Guerrero should have Blue Jays excited about the thought of him being a Blue Jay for life (it's not the first instance of that happening this week), it's still a bit bittersweet considering how Hernandez left Toronto.

He became a fan favorite thanks to his power and vibrant personality, and it's still unfortunate that his time with the team ended because of something out of his control.
Still, it's great to still hear him speak so highly of Guerrero, and also to know that the two of them still keep in touch.
This isn't the first time this has happened either, as Guerrero gave Hernandez his Home Run Derby chain after Hernandez won the event in 2024.

After the interview, Betts said what we were all thinking.
"Shoutout to you Vladdy," Betts said. "I'm trying to be your compadre too."
Aren't we all?
