After Toronto acquired Robinson Pina from the Marlins, the Blue Jays needed to make another move to their 40 man roster. This time designating Spencer Turnbull for assignment to make room for Max Scherzer. This was expected and now we are officially getting to see what the future Hall of Famer can do in Toronto.

The Blue Jays really needed to get Scherzer back in the rotation as they look to inch closer to the Yankees and Rays in the division. Now they have a full set of five pitchers in the rotation, which is a great spot for them to be in ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline. Getting Scherzer back full-time and healthy give this team a better chance to win games, especially since it meant moving on from Turnbull.

Blue Jays activate Max Scherzer and DFA Spencer Turnbull to correspond.

Turnbull had a short and forgettable time in Toronto. The move to bring him up was bold anyways as it sent rookie Paxton Schultz down after he was off to a great start in his career. Nonetheless, it took three games for the Blue Jays to move on from the veteran.

In 6.1 innings, Turnbull allowed five earned runs, 12 hits, and four walks while striking out four batters. He was fooling absolutely no one at the plate. Following this, Turnbull will likely avoid going to Triple-A and elect free agency. There's a chance he would resign a minor league deal with the team, but it would make sense for a team like the White Sox or Rockies to try and use him ahead of the deadline to get anything they can in a trade.

Looking forward on the roster, this pitching staff is really starting to shape up into a contending staff. Keeping Eric Lauer in the mix as a starter may not exactly be the most ideal situation, but he has truly found a groove in the rotation. The Cubs are rumored to be exploring a deal involving Pirates' starter Mitch Keller. Keller is the type of pitcher the Blue Jays should be in on as well. There are a lot of free agents in this Blue Jays staff after the season ends, so the Blue Jays should only be looking to make pitching additions if those players come with control.
