The Major League debut for Charles McAdoo might be just around the corner. The Toronto Blue Jays' 24 infield prospect has had a very productive opening two months at Triple-A Buffalo in 2026 and his bat could be leading the way for him to get a call up to The Show.
The 24-year-old from Walnut Creek, California is currently hitting .251/.360/.443 with an OPS of .804 and a wRC+ of 115. Those don't seem like numbers that scream "bring him up now" but in comparison to a player that is directly in his path, McAdoo may have the upper hand.
Worth noting: #BlueJays INF prospect Charles McAdoo started at 2B for the 1st time this year last night for AAA Buffalo.

He’s mainly been 3B/1B this year, but Jays are clearly looking to diversify his fielding. McAdoo (.259 AVG, .812 OPS, 7 HR) has been Bisons’ top RH bat
That player is Lenyn Sosa, the 26-year-old utility player the Blue Jays acquired in a trade with the Chicago White Sox last month (April 13, 2026). The hope was that Sosa could provide some pop from the right side of the plate while playing multiple positions around the infield. He's appeared in 27 games with the Blue Jays since the trade and that pop has not showed up.
Sosa has one home run in 80 plate apperances (going into May 26) and sports a 32 wRC+ with a .286 SLG. He's also got a 22.5% strikeout rate and has one walk all season. That's one walk combined between his 33 plate appearances with the White Sox and the 80 he's taken since joining the Blue Jays. While any team would love to have a guy that makes contact and isn't necessarily looking to lay off pitches, it doesn't help when that player can only maintain a .237 BABIP in those 27 games like Sosa has.
His hard hit percentage has also decreased since coming over to Toronto, from 42.3% with the White Sox to 34.4% and his average exit velocity has dipped to 88.5 mph. In the field Sosa has played 13 games at second base and nine more at first and those are the two crucial areas for why his job may be in jeopardy if he doesn't start getting hot - McAdoo plays those same positions.
McAdoo getting experience around the field could lead to his call up to Toronto
McAdoo has spent 17 games at first base, 22 games at third, DH'd eight times, and has now added a pair of games to his resume at second base. That's a lot of moving around the diamond, but it could be a way to excel his pathway to the majors. In 48 games this season, McAdoo has maintained a much better strikeout to walk ratio than Sosa. McAdoo has a 14.2% walk rate, while striking out at 19.8%. His BABIP sits at .281 and he's delivered with eight home runs, 27 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
Of course, he still has some work to do in making harder contact. His hard hit percentage for the season sits at 34.9% and his average exit velocity is at 86.1mph. Those numbers will have to come up if he wants to be able to help out the Blue Jays and their power game, but he's making better, consistent contact than Sosa is - albeit against less polished pitching.
But right now, the Blue Jays are looking for results and the less they get from the players currently on the main roster the more they'll need to look elsewhere for consistent contributors. There's also a bit of a timeline working against the Blue Jays on McAdoo. He'll be Rule 5 Draft Eligible this coming December and they may not get as lucky on him as they did when 29 other teams over looked Yohendrick Piñango this past December.
