Anthony Santander is doing everything in his power to get back to the big leagues in 2025. The biggest free agent signing for the Blue Jays this past offseason hasn't lived up to his contract at all, battling slow performance and injuries throughout the year, but he could inject Toronto with a huge upgrade in the lineup once the playoffs start.
Santander hasn't played at the MLB level since May 29, going on the injured list due to a shoulder injury. He didn't step onto a field for game action for over three months and then finally began a rehab assignment on September 11. Playing with the Buffalo Bisons, Santander has slowly been progressing, trying to get his swing to being major league capable.
Blue Jays' Anthony Santander just made a powerful statement (and slow trot) in rehab
Through his eight games, the switch-hitting Santander has five hits, but two of them have left the yard, including one that he blasted at 111.5 mph. It was a 3850-foot home run that Santander truly soaked in as he took his time to round the bases with a 41-second home run trot.
Down in Triple-A, Anthony Santander just homered (batting right-handed).

It garnered a lot of attention on social media as it was recorded as the slowest home run trot of all time in Triple-A baseball. No one has managed to get a reason from Santander as to why he took his sweet time. Some speculated that he may have hurt his lower half, but there's been no indication to shed light on that theory.
While Santander is likely slated to be a designated hitter when he gets back to Toronto, he has played in the outfield in Buffalo, playing seven innings with the Bisons on Wednesday and he's scheduled to be out there again in both of their games this weekend against the RailRiders, according to Blue Jays reporter Shi Davedi.
Bo Bichette did some light hitting in the cage today, said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. Flips and tee work.
