The Toronto Blue Jays want to get back to the World Series in 2026 and this time they want to win it all. After coming up just two outs shy of accomplishing that goal, they have spent the majority of this offseason raising their competitive floor in the hopes of getting back to the Fall Classic.

But there is still work to be done and in a recent article on MLB.com, one reporter notes that free agent outfielder Kyle Tucker still feels like the perfect offseason addition for the Blue Jays to make.

Adding Kyle Tucker still feels like the perfect free agent fit for the Blue Jays

Andrew Simon writes, "The Blue Jays could opt to simply bring back (Bo) Bichette -- especially given his willingness to shift to second base -- but landing Tucker’s lefty bat to pair with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. could be an even more impactful move. Tucker’s rare combination of skills would be a boon to Toronto’s title hopes, and his arrival would establish without a doubt the Blue Jays’ status as a franchise that can attract (and land) elite talent."

That last bit has been a bit of an issue for Toronto recently. They went in hard after other mega superstars in Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto, coming up empty both times. However, they finally managed to sign a superstar on the dotted line to a mega deal when their home grown star, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did just that in April of 2025.

Then in the offseason, they managed to bring in arguably the best free agent pitcher on the market in Dylan Cease. Something else that Simon notes, "The Blue Jays have made no secret about the fact that, after coming oh-so-close to a championship in 2025, they are stepping on the gas this offseason in pursuit of that goal. Toronto struck quickly to add Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce to its rotation and Tyler Rogers to the back of its bullpen."

But they have yet to add that impact bat, and depending on who you ask, their lineup is significantly weaker as they await on a decision from Bo, or perhaps Alex Bregman. If the Blue Jays don't sign either of those guys, then Tucker almost becomes a necessity in order for the Blue Jays to build off what they started in 2025. Toronto has also been long rumored to be the only team that would come close to matching the money that Tucker is seeking, although GM Ross Atkins has also hinted that the current evaluations for some players are a bit out of their comfort zone.

Regardless, Tucker was the guy the insiders pegged as being on the Blue Jays radar entering the offseason and over two months after the final out of the World Series was recorded, the Blue Jays and Tucker coming together to get a deal done just still feels like common sense.
