A fan favorite during his seven-year career with the with the Jays, Toronto traded Jansen to the Red Sox at the trade deadline after they couldn't reach an extension with him. The Blue Jays ended up getting three prospects (infielders Cutter Coffey and Eddinson Paulino and right-handed pitcher Gilberto Batista) in return from Jansen.

Jansen wasn't in Boston for long, as he left as a free agent at the end of the season and found a new home with the Tampa Bay Rays on a one-year deal with a mutual option for the 2026 season. He's gotten off to a great start this spring, as he's hit a solid .300 with a 1.062 OPS, one run scored, one home run, three RBI, three walks with just one strikeout in 13 plate appearances over five games played.

Jansen will likely feel like the one who got away considering the strong tandem he formed with Alejandro Kirk behind the plate.
