OF Myles Straw

Veteran outfielder Myles Straw has been one of the biggest surprises of Blue Jays' camp after the team acquired his bloated contract in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians to gain $2 million in international bonus pool space. That money helped give Toronto a legitimate shot at recruiting Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki in free agency, but we all know how that turned out.
Straw was given a Non-Roster Invitee spot to spring training to see what he could do, and the 30-year-old has made the most of his opportunity. Straw has amassed a .476 batting average with one double, one home run and six RBI in just 21 at-bats.
OFFICIAL: We’ve acquired OF Myles Straw, cash, and international bonus signing pool space for the 2025 period from the Guardians in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

As a former Gold Glove winner with the Guardians back in 2022, Straw is perhaps the best defensive outfielder not named Daulton Varsho left in camp. It's very easy to imagine him beginning the season as the Jays’ extra outfielder thanks to his speed and elite defense.
However, Straw has had his struggles at the plate over the past three seasons, compiling a less-than-stellar .229 average and .579 OPS in 306 games. He spent the bulk of his 2024 campaign in the minors after being placed on outright waivers by the Guardians prior to the start of the season.
His impressive play so far this spring could earn him a spot on the Jays’ 26-man roster, but could be gone soon if his impressive spring turns out to be a mirage.
