The Toronto Blue Jays have finally made their first move ahead of the MLB Trade Deadline, adding Seranthony Dominguez to the bullpen. There are various reports indicating that the Blue Jays are not finished adding to this bullpen. Even though they gave up top prospect Juaron Watts-Brown for a rental, this team plans on going all in on the trade market and with some of the names they are linked to, this could be a very exciting couple of days.

With these reports come a handful of names, primarily one of the stars on the trade market.

The Blue Jays plan to add even more to the bullpen, following Seranthony Dominguez acquisition

Ryan Helsely

There are a lot of reports indicating that the Blue Jays are very high on Ryan Hesley and still intend on acquiring him after the Dominguez trade. Minutes following the Dominguez deal, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reported that, "The Blue Jays remain firmly in the hunt for Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley, per sources."

Helsely would totally be more expensive than Dominguez in value and would potentially become the closer over Jeff Hoffman. Helsely has posted a 3.00 ERA this season with a 3.51 FIP and a 10.25 K/9. He would cost a bit of a hefty package. It would be totally worth it though, giving Toronto one of the best bullpens in baseball.

Anthony Bender

On Tuesday afternoon, Ben Nicholson-Smith wrote about the deadline and the Blue Jays roster over these next few days. One thing that stood out from that article was labeling Anthony Bender from the Miami Marlins as one of the Blue Jays' main targets along with David Bednar of the Pirates. The Blue Jays and Pirates have been lining up as potential trade partners for a while now as Jon Morosi reported.

Bender in particular though is an intriguing target as he has multiple years of control, unlike the others linked to the Blue Jays. He won't be a free agent until after the 2027 season, which could possibly make Bender the most valuable guy on the list. Bender has posted a 1.83 ERA this season with a 3.74 FIP. He has been very effective this season and could be another great boost to this bullpen.

Phil Maton

A different Blue Jays reporter, Mitch Bannon connected another Cardinals reliever to Toronto. This time it is Phil Maton, and just like Helsley, he has been dominant in St. Louis. He would be another rental, which is why the Cardinals would like to get something out of him.

Maton is another that really has not gotten a lot of smoke behind, yet he would be a really productive addition to the bullpen. The soft tossing right hander has generated a 2.35 ERA with a 2.49 FIP and a 11.27 K/9 this season. This is a career year for Maton and the Blue Jays should pivot to him most if they miss out on Helsely.
