Out of nowhere, the Toronto Blue Jays rival in Boston dealt their star to the Giants in a wild trade. It seems clear now that Rafael Devers is gone that the Red Sox are for sure selling at the Trade Deadline. Even after their GM stated that they aren't waving the white flag, it truly feels like they may sell in this market.

Although inter-division trades are rare, the Blue Jays should attempt to work out a deal with Boston as they reportedly reached out regarding Devers, but not an effort that got anywhere. Nonetheless, these three options could greatly help Toronto in their playoff push.

The Blue Jays should look at these three Red Sox players that'll likely be traded following Rafael Devers deal.

Aroldis Chapman

Aroldis Chapman is nearing the end of a Hall of Fame career. Even though he is up there in age, he is still throwing just as hard as he did in his debut back in 2010. The flamethrowing left hander would be the perfect anchor in Toronto's bullpen and could help Jeff Hoffman as the closer. He is just a rental, but that's all the Blue Jays need in this veteran.

So far this season, Chapman has posted a 1.50 ERA with a 2.03 FIP across 30 innings and has collected 13 saves. He has completely returned to his elite self and the Blue Jays should examine a trade for him to bolster the bullpen.

Justin Wilson

Justin Wilson is another rental southpaw to throw into bullpen mix. He is also having a great season at age 37 and should be a cheap player to target in prospect capital. Like Chapman, Boston won't want to hold onto their rentals if they are out of it, so Wilson will likely be on the move too.

Across 25 innings, Wilson has posted a 2.16 ERA with a 2.15 FIP and has generated an 11.16 K/9. If he keeps things up, this could shape up to be the best season of his career and if he can do that in Toronto, that would really help the Blue Jays get to the postseason.

Jarren Duran

Jarren Duran is a hot take on this list, but he is very well on the market too. The Padres previously had shown interest this season in the outfielder and now that Devers was dealt, anything can truly happen. The Blue Jays could definitely use that added bat in the lineup and Duran would be a great fit for that.

This season has not been as great as 2024 for Duran, but he has still been productive at the plate. His wRC+ is the MLB average at 100, with an OPS of .733 and five home runs. His OPS was above .800 these past two seasons, including 48 doubles, 14 triples, and 21 home runs in 2024. He still has that power in him, along with great base stealing abilities, so if Toronto can tap into his upside, he could make this lineup elite.
