After being hit with the injury bug to their key players for most of the season, the Toronto Blue Jays could soon be getting some massive reinforcements in the coming weeks. That is because three key Blue Jays in Daulton Varsho, Addison Barger and Shane Bieber have all been progressing in their respective rehab assignments.
How soon will the Blue Jays get their much-needed reinforcements?
In the case for Varsho, he has resumed swinging in the cage and hitting off the tee as his wrist has felt a lot better according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. However, it may still be a little while before he makes his return.
As the main defensive general in the outfield, the Blue Jays miss his presence in the field. In addition, Varsho had added 27 runs scored, five home runs, 17 RBIs and five stolen bases from the offensive side of things while compiling a career-best .256 average.

Yimi Garcia will throw an inning for triple-A Buffalo tonight and rejoin Blue Jays tomorrow to determine next steps.
For Barger, he has been sidelined with a right elbow injury ever since making a spectacular defensive throw back in early May. As per Jays manager John Schneider, the 26-year-old slugger has been hitting off a pitching machine and throwing at 150 feet, and should begin playing rehab games soon, as reported by Davidi as well.
Barger’s 2026 campaign might not be going so well, having spent more time on the sidelines than in the field. But for a player coming off a 20+ home run and 70+ RBI campaign in 2025, he could certainly provide that instant offensive impact in the Blue Jays’ lineup upon his return.
Shane Bieber starts Wednesday for Buffalo, aiming for 75 pitches. Will also rejoin Blue Jays after to determine where his next start will be.

Finally, Bieber is the closest amongst the trio in making his potential return to Toronto. After being on the injured list since the start of the 2026 season, the 31-year-old right-hander made his final rehab start on Wednesday (Jun. 17) with the Blue Jays’ Triple-A affiliate Buffalo and will rejoin the big league team on Thursday to determine when his next start will be. Although his latest start wasn’t as encouraging, as Bieber gave up five earned runs and allowed 11 base runners in five-plus innings, Toronto will more than welcome any reinforcements to their rotation after Max Scherzer went down to an injury once again.
With all three players playing a huge part in their postseason run last season, the Blue Jays will hope that they can do the same upon their return from injury to help the team in their quest to return to the playoffs this year.
