The Toronto Blue Jays have recently fallen back down to earth after a solid start to the 2025 MLB season. They entered play on Tuesday on a three-game losing streak, and are now in third-place in the American League East. That slump has taken some of the shine away from the 12-8 record they started the season with.

The Blue Jays have received significant contributions from the bulk of their players this season, with the latest example being Paxton Schultz putting together a record-setting debut out of the Blue Jays' bullpen.

But, at the same time, they've also had some players who have been struggling, which means they could perhaps use time off to help regroup and reload.

Here's a look at three Blue Jays players that have already earned more playing time and two who deserve a little less.

Mason Fluharty: Earned more playing time

Fluharty turned some heads in spring training, and began getting some buzz as an under-the-radar pitcher who could help the Blue Jays in 2025.

After spending all of 2024 in Triple-A, Fluharty made a strong audition in spring by posting a stellar 1.29 ERA with a whopping 11 strikeouts in just seven innings over eight appearances. Surprisingly, that didn't earn him a spot on the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster.

Nevertheless, Fluharty waited for his opportunity and was called up by the Jays at the end of March.

He didn't have the best start to his MLB career when he gave up two runs without getting an out in his second MLB appearance, but he's been great since.

Fluharty has compiled a tidy 2.57 ERA in his six appearances since, which means the young 23-year-old left-hander should likely see more action in high-leverage situations going forward.
