Now that the Toronto Blue Jays are just two weeks away from Opening Day, it’s time to take stock of some hitters who spent the spring beating the stitching off the ball.

These three Blue Jays positio players have impressed this spring

 Bo Bichette

To say that this is an important year for Bichette would be a massive understatement.

He’s entering his walk year and is coming off a disappointing and injury-plagued season, so his strong start to the spring has been encouraging. Despite being a veteran, the 27-year-old has a team-high 31 at-bats and is tied for the team lead with 11 hits (.355) with two doubles, two homers, five RBI, and a .977 OPS.

His no-doubt, moonshot homer to left field during Monday’s 8-3 win over the Houston Astros was reminiscent of the player who squared up so many baseballs from 2021-'23. It’s a sight Blue Jays fans are hoping to see a lot more of over the next several months.

Ernie Clement

Clement entered camp on the inside track to secure the starting third base spot, even after countless fans and executives believed Toronto should’ve upgraded at that spot during the offseason.

But this spring, the former University of Virginia star hasn’t just secured the job — he’s let MLB know that he could be in for a breakout season in 2025. Not only has he played well, he also showed his toughness and determination by hitting a home run one start after getting hit in the face by a fastball.

The 28-year-old has added another home run since to go along his solid defense and speed. Clement is hitting an eye-popping .423 (11-for-26) with two homers, two doubles eight RBI (which leads the team this spring), and an 1.175 OPS.

Addison Barger

As much as Clement has made third base his, Barger is making a case to crack the initial roster as a bench option.

In 21 at-bats, the muscular third baseman/outfielder has racked up eight hits (.381 average) with a 1.149 OPS to go along with a pair of home runs, double, four RBI and seven runs scored. The 25-year-old also flashed a strong arm in right field, nailing Cody Bellinger at second base while trying to stretch a single into a double. If he makes the team, Barger will get likely get some starts at third base and in the corner outfield spots.

Honorable Mention

It was no easy task coming up with only three players who fit this bill. Other hitters who have excelled include Myles Straw (.476., 1.145 OPS), Alan Roden (.412, 1.482), and Davis Schneider (3.68, 1.240).
