It seems like only yesterday when Toronto Blue Jays fans were anticipating the arrival of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to the big leagues. The son of a Hall of Fame player, who played for Canada's other team, the Montreal Expos before they became the Washington Nationals. The hype for Vladdy was real and at just 26-years-old he's already played seven seasons in the majors and has spent most of that time putting a dent into the team's record books.

Going into 2026, with a 14-year $500 million contract about to kick in, Guerrero is approaching several of the inner circle numbers on the Blue Jays' franchise list.

2026 could be a year full of milestone moments for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

bWAR

Guerrero has already been worth 25.9 bWAR in his career which is seventh all-time in Blue Jays franchise history, and he could climb into the top four by the end of the season. Currently sitting in fourth place is Jesse Barfield who posted a 29.5 career bWAR during his time in Toronto. Guerrero posted a 4.6 bWAR in 2025 and a repeat of that would put him just ahead of Barfield.

Guerrero would then be chasing down José Bautista (38.4), Tony Fernández (37.5) and Carlos Delgado (36.8).

Slash line (Batting Average/On-Base Percentage/Slugging Percentage)

Guerrero currently has a .288 batting average which is tied with Damaso Garcia for eighth overall in team history. Guerrero hit .292 this season and he would need to do that again, or better to raise that career average. He's chasing down John Olerud (.293) and Bo Bichette (.294) as his next closests competition.

He's also ranked ninth with a .366 career OBP behind Bautista and Otto Vélez (.372) and his .495 SLG is eighth behind his good friend Teoscar Hernández at .503.

Games Played

Guerrero is 14th all-time in games played with the Blue Jays with 975, but one of the amazing things about Vladdy has been his durability throughout his MLB career. Outside of his 123 game rookie season and the 60 game COVID shortened year, Guerrero has played at least 156 games since 2021. If he manages to do that at a minimum again, he'll reach 1,131 games played which puts him between George Bell (1,181) and Rance Mulliniks / Willie Upshaw who both had (1,115).

Runs Scored

Vladdy sits tenth in the this category with 571 runs scored, just behind Joe Carter's 578. Guerrero's career high for runs scored in a season was 123 back in 2021. Since then he has had put up these numbers; 90, 78, 98, and 96. Taking the median of 90.5 that would give him 662 by the end of 2026, putting him ahead of Bell for sixth on the list and behind the 704 of Fernández.

Hits

Guerrero reach the 1,000 hits milestone last season and finished with 1,077 total base knocks, putting him eighth on the Blue Jays. He has averaged 178 hits per season since 2021 and that would set him up at 1,255 by season's end moving him ahead of Bautista (1,103) for sixth and behind Bell at 1,294.

Home Runs

Through his first seven years, Vladdy's 183 home runs are more than what Delgado (149), Vernon Wells (109) and Bell (163) had through their first seven seasons. Those are just some of the names he's chasing down in this category as he sits seventh on the list. He's only 19 back of Bell's career 202, Carter is just ahead of Bell at 203 and Wells is fourth all time at 223. To reach Wells, Vladdy needs to have a 40 homer season, something he hasn't done since 2021.

But he has averaged 31 home runs per year over the last five years and it's not unreasonable to think he will surpass both Bell and Carter by the end of 2026. Meantime he is 153 home runs away from Delgado's top spot of 336, which, following his average pace, he could surpass Delgado within the next five years.

RBI

Guerrero is nine RBIs away from a nice round 600 for his career. He's ninth all-time behind Fernández (613). He's averaging 97 RBIs a season and a repeat of that performance would give him 688 for his career, jumping him ahead of Edwin Encarnacion's 679 and behind Carter's 736, which is fifth all-time.

All-Star games

Guerrero has 14 years to both set and break the Blue Jays all-time record for appearances in the All-Star game. He's currently at five, one back of the Blue Jays record for position players currently held by Bautista. Bautista went to six straight Mid-Summer Classics in a row, and Guerrero currently has five straight, going every year since 2021.

There is a reason he was regarded as the face of the franchise and why it was so imperative the Blue Jays signed him to a long-term deal before the 2025 season concluded. With that deal done, it's time for Vladdy to start cementing his name right across the slate in Toronto's history books.
