Adam Cimber was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays in June of last year. At the time, the Blue Jays bullpen was a major concern for the team and Cimber was acquired in hopes of being a reliable arm Charlie Montoyo could call on from the bullpen.
Cimber appeared in 39 games for Toronto last year and he was excellent. The righty was extremely dependable out of the bullpen – one of the few relievers on the team who was. In those 39 games, he posted a 1.69 ERA to go along with a 0.96 WHIP. After being one of the club’s most reliable relief pitchers last season, fans are surely hoping Cimber’s strong play translates into 2022.
Heading into the 2022 season, the club’s bullpen isn’t supposed to be a weakness for the team like it was a year ago. With the likes of Jordan Romano, Yimi Garcia, Tim Mayza, Trevor Richards, Julian Merryweather, and hopefully Nate Pearson once he recovers from mononucleosis, the team’s bullpen looks like it could be a real strong suit this season.

As aforementioned, another name in that slew of relief pitchers who is poised to be a valuable arm this season is Adam Cimber. Coming off the strong second half of the season Cimber had with the Blue Jays last year, there’s a lot of optimism surrounding the right-handed reliever in 2022. FanGraphs currently projects the 31-year-old to throw 71 innings, posting a 4.43 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.
After coming off a 91 win season last year which saw the club miss out on the playoffs by just a single game, all those late-game blown saves surely haunt Blue Jays fans to this day. Fans and management alike are surely hoping instances like that are a thing of the past.
As Opening Day is just hours away this evening, there’s a ton of optimism surrounding this team this season. With one of the best starting rotations in baseball, one of the most potent offences in the league, and a rejuvenated bullpen, there’s a genuine belief that this team could win the World Series this year.
