The Toronto Blue Jays officially announced their 40-man postseason player pool and it does not include outfielder Derek Fisher.
The Blue Jays active roster will consist of 28 players with a 12-player taxi squad for the postseason. The team has opted to carry 22 pitchers, nine infielders, five outfielders, and four catchers for their playoff run.
Included in the 22 rostered pitchers are injured hurlers Julian Merryweather, Nate Pearson, and Jordan Romano. Merryweather was just placed on the injured reserve with right elbow tendonitis as the corresponding move for the Matt Shoemaker activation on Monday.
Rookies Patrick Murphy and T.J. Zeuch were also included while injured pitcher Jacob Waguespack was omitted. Waguespack has been sidelined with a left-back strain since September 17th and will presumably miss the remainder of the season.

The Blue Jays kept four catchers in the mix as Danny Jansen, Alejandro Kirk, Reese McGuire, and Caleb Joseph all made the 40-man cut. Jansen and Kirk will be on the active roster while it appears the other two will be part of the taxi squad.
Injured infielder Rowdy Tellez was also included which is somewhat of a surprise as it was anticipated he was done for the season after suffering a knee tendon injury. Tellez has been taking swings in the cage of late so hopefully, his prognosis has improved.
Surprisingly, Brandon Drury was also included on the roster, the infielder cleared waivers after being designated for assignment earlier in the season. The 28-year old hit just .152 in 49 plate appearances this season.
The Blue Jays went with a five-man outfield selecting Randal Grichuk, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Teoscar Hernandez, Jonathan Davis, and Josh Palacios. The brain trust did not include struggling outfielder Derek Fisher in their postseason plans. Fisher has suspiciously been sidelined with a knee contusion he suffered in batting practice following a brutal performance in the outfield the night before.
The Blue Jays as it stands will be the 8th seed in the playoffs and likely draw the Tampa Bay Rays as their first-round match-up.
