Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is off to a less than stellar start, however, take a deep breath, he will be just fine.

The keyboard warriors have been quick to jump all over Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. following a slow start to the 2020 campaign. The 21-year old, remember, he is still only 21, is hitting .172 with a homer and seven strikeouts in his first 30 plate appearances.

Vladdy has also seen his groundball rate spike to nearly 70 percent thus far in the early season. What we have to remember is that Vladdy has succeeded at every level he has played and is also learning a new position in an unorthodox season, to say the least.

Guerrero Jr.is still making hard contact and is consistently smashing the cover off the ball in terms of exit velocity, which is encouraging. The kid will figure it out in short order and when he does, watch out.

More from Vladimir Guerrero Jr

It is no different than his defensive game at the moment, he is playing a new position but will undoubtedly get better on positioning and everything else related to first base. These youngsters are not only students of the game but also baseball lifers who will risk life and limb to succeed at the highest level.

The standard of excellence has been set so high for Vladdy, he is nearly doomed for failure regardless. Take last season for case in point, he hit .272/.339/.433 with 15 homers in his first taste of the majors and people still thought he underachieved.

Remember that guy named Mike Trout, he was sent back to the minors when he was 20 years old after he hit .220 in his first 40 games in the majors. It happens, this is a difficult game.

Next. Will MLB be able to maintain competitive integrity?. dark

Trust in the process and rest assured that Vladdy will work his tail off until he is back to where we all expect him to be. He is too good for anything less.
