There are reports surfacing that we may have Blue Jays Baseball sooner than later as the league continues to craft a contingency plan that would see the season begin sometime in May.

The prospects of the Blue Jays season being canceled were beginning to feel like a soon-to-be reality with each passing day. However, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the MLB and MLBPA are focussing on a plan that could have players back in their respective training camps by May with regular-season games soon to follow.

The unorthodox plan would see games played in empty stadiums with all the teams based in the Arizona area. Teams would utilize Chase Field and other surrounding stadiums to facilitate their schedule with approximately three games being played at Chase Field daily.

Presumably, the Coronavirus curve will need to be somewhat flattened in the United States before this plan comes to fruition. The players could also be an obstacle if they do not fully endorse the proposed plan to remain away from their families in Arizona.

In a time where social distancing and self-quarantines have taken over our lives globally, the return of America’s pastime would go a long way in restoring some sort of semblance in the lives of many baseball fans.

The stoppage definitely hampered the Blue Jays chances of getting a foot up on their division out of the gate. Toronto was breaking camp healthy with all their prominent pieces intact whereas the New York Yankees were literally limping into the regular season.

If the season begins in late May, many of the Yankees integral players were be nursed back to full health and the entire division will be on an equal playing field.

It will also be interesting to see if the service-time plan changes for pitcher Nate Pearson in light of a shortened MLB season.

There will undoubtedly be a ton of kinks to iron out if a season is to go ahead in this current state of affairs, however, you’re telling me there’s a chance.
