The Toronto Blue Jays unveiled their new jerseys this morning at WinterFest and the new threads have a retro powder blue flair with a modern design.

The #NewBlue design was unleashed this morning as Blue Jays player Randal Grichuck, Cavan Biggio, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. modelled the new uniforms for fans at the annual fan fest at the Rogers Centre.

The new threads have a retro feel merged with the team’s navy blue colour scheme. The jerseys still have the traditional lettering and piping while the new caps have a powder blue brim.

The new ensemble also features navy blue matte batting helmets and navy and powder blue socks. The team has announced the new uniforms will be worn in a regular rotation both at home and on the road.

The players will ultimately decide on how often they are worn but expect to see the new uniforms on Opening Day according to General Manager Mark Shapiro. The GM described the new threads as “a fresh twist with a traditional look.”

The players spoke on the main stage after they finished their modelling duties and all four seemed genuinely excited about the new digs and the prospects of combining the traditional look with their own new fresh twist that represent the new crop of players.

Between their offseason moves, new uniforms and renovations to the spring training complex in Florida, the brain trust has gone a long way to restoring the faith back into Blue Jays nation.

The decision to launch the new uniforms at the Winter Fest was also a wise decision as anticipation for the upcoming campaign is at an all-time high. They definitely hit it out of the park with this latest endeavour and I personally am looking forward to seeing the players don the new threads on Opening Day. #NewBlue
