Blue Jays reportedly trade Marcus Stroman to the Mets
After much speculation and rumours flying around, the blue jays have finally dealt star pitcher Marcus Stroman. According to MLB Network’s John Morosi, the fan favourite arm is heading to the New York Mets.
Stroman led the Toronto Blue Jays to some of the most successful and exciting years in franchise history, Stroman was one of a few remaining pieces of the successful Blue Jays roster. In 2019, the Jays have been in the midst of a rebuild.
With prospects such as Vladimir Guerrero Jr, and Cavan Biggo taking the reigns of the team and the promising arms of Nate Pearson and Eric Pardinho on the horizon, Marcus Stroman was left as one of the organizations key trade pieces.
Stroman, who has been enjoying one of his best seasons in recent memory has been linked to a trade for all of 2019. After posting a record of 6-11, and an ERA of 2.96, Stroman was rumoured to demand a hefty sum in return. With the trade deadline looming, it was only a matter of time before he would venture south of the border.
The rumoured suitors had been Yankees, Braves, Red Sox, Astros, and Mets, with the dodgers making a last gasp effort. In the end, he goes to the Mets, sending him to the national league where his batting will become an asset.

Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, the Mets have one of the more lacklustre farm systems in baseball. it is unlikely that the blue jays settled for mediocre prospects after being linked to the likes of Clint Frazier among others.
Although these prospects were what was initially rumoured, it looks as though the blue jays will be getting some of the Met’s top pitching prospects in return. While their system is not the best, the pitching prospects will still be a valuable piece for Toronto.
With the trade, Stroman leaves the Blue Jays short on starting arms, and Toronto baseball fans lose one of their most vocal and exciting athletes ever to play in the city.
