According to the team’s official transactions page on MLB.com, the Toronto Blue Jays have released right-handed pitcher Edwin Jackson.
Jackson had been designated for assignment by the team on July 16, just two days after he’d been activated from the 10-day injured list.
Earlier in the week, Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith noted that Jackson was likely to elect free agency instead of staying with the Blue Jays.

Jackson, 35, is perhaps best known for making an appearance for 14 different major league teams, the most in baseball history. Still, his time in his 14th uniform, a blue and white Blue Jays uniform, was forgettable, to say the least.
In eight appearances for the Blue Jays (five starts), he pitched to an absurdly ugly ERA of 11.12, walking 13 and striking out 19 in 28.1 innings, posting a WHIP of 2.188 and surrendering 12 home runs and finishing up with a record of 1-5.
For his career, the native of Neu-Ulm, Germany has logged innings with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Baltimore Orioles, and the Oakland Athletics.
While it seems unlikely that Jackson can find his way onto the major league roster of another team, it’s possible he gets a few looks as an extreme depth option down the line.
