According to a recent report, the Blue Jays “could be aggressive” in trading pitchers Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez.
According to Jayson Stark of The Athletic ($), the Blue Jays “have already signalled to teams that they could be aggressive in trying to trade Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez“.
A Major League Baseball executive told Stark that the Blue Jays, as a team, are “in the perfect place to move guys like that”.
A report published last month by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic also indicated that the team would “try to trade” Sanchez, Stroman, and first baseman Justin Smoak.

Previously, Rosenthal reported that the Houston Astros showed interest in trading for Stroman during the offseason.
Stroman, 28, has been having an outstanding season thus far, pitching to an ERA of 2.74 in 12 starts while Sanchez, 26, has been struggling with miscellaneous injuries.
Though he’s been able to toss 60.0 frames to a respectable ERA of 3.75 in 12 starts, concern is mounting for Sanchez’s health, even after it was announced that he’d be making his start Sunday in Colorado.
Despite being just two seasons removed from an American League ERA title, Sanchez has had to leave two of his last three starts, most recently with what was described as a right middle fingernail avulsion.
While it’s not surprising to see reports surfacing about the team’s willingness to trade the two pitchers, the organization hasn’t formally announced any plans to entertain trades. More to come.
