Rogers Centre experiences multiple leaks

As if the Blue Jays’ 19-4 decimation at the hands of the San Diego Padres Saturday wasn’t enough, the roof at the Rogers Centre experienced several leaks before and during the game, Laura Armstrong of the Toronto Star and Minor Leaguer pointed out on Twitter. Several members of the Blue Jays security team were patrolling the concourse making sure all in attendance were dry and safe.

Padres transfer Loup to 60-day IL

Former Blue Jay and current Padres reliever Aaron Loup has been transferred from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with a left elbow strain, the team announced Friday. Loup, now 31, logged 318.2 innings with the Blue Jays and has appeared in just four games for San Diego after signing on as a free agent in February.

Maile makes Blue Jays history

After pitching in Saturday’s game, catcher Luke Maile became just the fourth position player in Blue Jays franchise history to make multiple pitching appearances, Ian Hunter of Blue Jays Nation points out. Maile, who also struck out two batters, becomes the first position player in franchise history to record multiple strikeouts, per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet. And hey, maybe the factoid in the above tweet means that the Blue Jays should roll out Maile a few more times over the next couple of weeks.

Pardinho pitches in extended spring training game

Blue Jays pitching prospect Eric Pardinho is progressing towards a return from a right elbow injury, appearing in an extended spring training Saturday, per Scott Mitchell of TSN. Pardinho, 18, was spectacular at Rookie-level Bluefield last season, tossing 50.0 innings to an ERA of 2.88, striking out a whopping 64 in 11 starts.

Larkins to Buffalo from Dunedin

According to the official transactions page of the International League, RHP Turner Larkins has been assigned to Triple-A Buffalo from High-A Dunedin. Larkins, 23, was drafted in the 21st round in 2017 and has pitched to an ERA of 2.25 in 36 frames for Dunedin, striking out 30 and walking just nine.

Rosscup roughed up in Blue Jays debut

New Blue Jays lefty Zac Rosscup didn’t have the best time in his debut in Toronto, allowing an earned run on a hit and two walks in Saturday’s thrashing. Prior to being claimed off waivers, Rosscup, 30, pitched to an ERA of 3.21 in Seattle over 14.0 frames, striking out 20.
