According to Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, Toronto Blue Jays phenom Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is set to join the Buffalo Bisons in Triple-A.

The Toronto Blue Jays top prospect is recovering from an oblique strain he suffered during Grapefruit League action in spring training. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. saw action in four games for the Dunedin Blue Jays going 4-15 with a double (.267/.353/.333).

In all likelihood, Vladdy will make his MLB debut at the end of the month when he has a few games at Triple-A under his belt and service time is no longer a concern for the Jays brain trust.

Guerrero only suited up six spring training games before the injury so he is a little behind the eight-ball. The injury quelled any rumours or suspicions the Jays were not acting in good faith when the best prospect in baseball was tabbed for the minors to open the 2019 campaign.

Guerrero will join the likes of Bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio and Anthony Alford in Buffalo forming an impressive compilation of MLB prospects on the cusp of superstardom. The Bisons are surprisingly only 2-4 to begin the season.

The Jays undoubtedly could use a shot in the arm in terms of offence after sputtering with the bats over the first two weeks. The Jays have stuck out an MLB leading 120 times and sport a 4-8 record after their first 12 games.

There will be no questioning the decision for Guerrero to replace Brandon Drury when the time comes. Drury has struggled to make consistent contact thus far and leads the American League with 19 strikeouts in 43 at-bats. Drury will be in tough for playing time once Vladdy makes the trip north of the border for good.
