The Blue Jays traded infielder Yeltsin Gudino to the division rival Baltimore Orioles Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

According to numerous reports (including those of MASN’s Roch Kubatko and MLB.com’s Joe Trezza), the Blue Jays have traded MiLB infielder Yeltsin Gudino to the Baltimore Orioles for cash considerations. Trezza adds that Gudino has been assigned to High-A Frederick.

This is the second trade the two teams have made this year, the first being another minor swap involving outfielder Dwight Smith Jr. on March 8.

Gudino, 22, was signed by the Blue Jays as an international free agent in July 2013 and spent the 2014 season with the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League (DSL) and Gulf Coast League (GCL) Blue Jays, slashing a combined .145/.219/.167 in 40 games. He walked 13 times and struck out 28 times.

Primarily a second baseman, Gudino was not ranked on the Blue Jays’ top prospects list by MLB Pipeline in any of the past three seasons.

This spring, he appeared in two games, striking out once and getting a hit in two at-bats.

He spent the winter playing for the Tigres de Aragua of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. That team also featured former Blue Jays Franklin Barreto and Ezequiel Carrera, as well as current prospects Kevin Vicuna and Alex Monsalve.
