Blue Jays: Marcus Stroman once again responds to rumours

Pitcher Marcus Stroman is yet again the subject of offseason trade rumours as news broke that the San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays were reportedly engaged in talks for the services of Stroman.

Marcus Stroman took to Twitter to once again address the trade speculation,  the hurler informed his followers on social media that “rumours are waste” and the “Rogers Centre is my second home”. (Note the correct Canadian spelling of “Centre” in his tweet.)

The tweet generated 197 comments while being retweeted 624 times and favorited 5,200 times in 16 hours. Following his tweet, Stroman also retweeted a number of tweets from fans supporting the hurler remaining in Toronto.

The outspoken 27-year old has made no bones about his admiration for Canada and his desire to remain north of the border with the Blue Jays. Unfortunately, we don’t exactly know if Ross Atkins and company share that same sentiment.

Stroman is looking to rebound from a disappointing 2018 campaign that saw his earned run average bloat to 5.54 in 19 starts last season. The hurler also spent some time on the disabled list with shoulder fatigue and blister issues last season.

According to his Instagram and Twitter workout videos, Stroman appears possessed this offseason determined to become an elite pitcher in the major leagues. Stroman often posts early morning videos where he is the only player in the Blue Jays workout facility in Dunedin.

The 27-year old definitely has a work ethic second to none that includes his business ventures away from the diamond. Stroman’s clothing line “Height Doesn’t Measure Heart” is continuously growing and recently affiliated with the Holt & Renfrew clothing company for an official launch in Toronto.

Love him or hate him, Stroman is a proud adopted Canadian, and we should embrace his loyalty. Although the Padres pitching prospect pool may give Ross Atkins a reason to think otherwise.
