Guerrero Jr. Gets A Lesson From Stubby Clapp

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continues to own Arizona Fall League pitching swatting an impressive .357/.405/.457 with 25 hits including seven doubles in 70 fall at-bats thus far. Surprisingly Vladdy has yet to go yard in his first 17 games.

Yesterday the highly touted prospect received a personal singing lesson from his Fall League skipper Stubby Clapp. The Windsor, Ontario native worked with Vladdy on his O’Canada rendition teaching the future Blue Jay the Canadian National Anthem from the dugout.

Montoyo Visits Prospects In Fall League

The Blue Jays new manager made a point to visit the Surprise Saguaros in Arizona to meet the prospects. Vladdy Jr., Cavan Biggio, Santiago Espinal, Nate Pearson, Zach Jackson, Jackson McClelland, and Shawn Morimando are all rostered with the Surprise and got a chance to meet their new skipper.

The Jays anointed Dave Hudgens their new bench coach earlier yesterday as the 61-year old leaves his post in Houston to join Montoyo’s staff.

Interestingly enough Hudgens had one-hit in seven career plate appearances with the Oakland Athletics in 1983. That one-hit actually came versus Blue Jays hurler Dave Stieb in his only career major league start. The Jays prevailed 8-6 in the contest backed by 3.1 innings of scoreless relief from Jim Acker.

Trade Winds Are Blowing

General Manager Ross Atkins addressed the media from the GM Meetings and divulged he is making headway toward a possible trade that could be finalized within the week.

Atkins was obviously vague in terms of details however he has publicly stated earlier in the offseason that the Jays will be aggressive in an attempt to shore up some starting pitching depth for the big club.
