Blue Jays players make their mark on AFL All-Star Game

The Toronto Blue Jays trio of representatives made their respective mark on the Arizona Fall League All-Star Game last night in Maricopa County.

The Blue Jays contingent were on the winning side of a 7-6 walk-off victory thanks in part to a clutch 2-run triple off the bat of Buddy Reed. All three Jays players were in the starting lineup for the West including Nate Pearson who got the nod on the bump opposite Forrest Whitley.

Pearson was utterly explosive in his inning of work, consistently over 100 mph and topping out at 104 mph on the radar gun. Unfortunately for Pearson, his 104 mph offering was deposited over the centerfield wall by Mets prospect Pete Alonso. The fireballer would also fan two in his only inning of work for the AFL West squad.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would also make his mark on the contest hammering a double that was clocked at 117 mph off the bat. Vladdy would move to third base with some heads-up baserunning before channeling his inner Fernando Rodney and flinging an imaginary arrow into the sky.

Guerrero would end up going 1 for 4 in the contest with a walk and run scored to go along with his double. Vladdy is hitting .393 in 15 fall league games thus far which is good enough for second in the league, only behind Rockies prospect Tyler Nevin and his robust .435 batting average.

Cavan Biggio rounded out the Blue Jays trifecta of talent showcased during the game going 1 for 5 with a single. The 23-year old continues to display positional versatility playing both left field and first base during the mid-fall classic.

The Jays trio will now concentrate on lifting the Surprise Saguaros out of the west basement when AFL games resume later next week. The Surprise is currently 8-13 and sit seven games back of the first place Peoria Javelinas atop the division.
