Blue Jays minor league news and notes from the past week, including the free agency of two pitchers and the recent signing of an international free agent.
Guilmet, Santos Elect Free Agency
Pitchers Preston Guilmet and Luis Santos have elected free agency, per the Blue Jays official transactions page on MLB.com. Keegan Matheson of Baseball Toronto confirmed that the two righties are now free agents.
Guilmet, 31, pitched to an abysmal 9.00 ERA in 8.0 frames for the big club this season, while Santos, 27, pitched to an equally disappointing 7.20 ERA in 20.0 innings with the Jays. Both spent the majority of the 2018 season with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Blue Jays Sign Fernando Chacon
According to the transactions page on MLB.com, the Blue Jays have signed 16-year-old Venezuelan right-handed pitcher Fernando Chacon to a minor-league contract.
No other details have since become available on Chacon, who was signed on October 3. The native of Valencia has no prior professional of note.

Utility infielder Jon Berti, who just last week was designated for assignment to make room for the incoming Julian Merryweather, has been outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo, several sources confirmed early Thursday.
Berti, a 28-year-old native of Troy, Michigan, made his major league debut for the Jays in September. In 15 at-bats, he had four hits including a double, scored a run and stole a base.

The official transactions tracker for the Single-A Florida State League noted earlier this week that 26-year-old Emilio Guerrero, who, last season, slashed a healthy .263/.311/.376 for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, has been promoted to Dunedin from Bluefield.
