Blue Jays news and notes from the morning of October 8th, 2018, including the status of a former Blue Jay, and an agency note on a young starter.

Stroman Stays With Scoffield

Though there was some speculation that young Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman would change agents when his representative, Brodie Scoffield, left the Legacy Agency, Jon Heyman of Fancred reports that Stroman, along with fellow hurler Kevin Gausman, is staying with Scoffield.

Stroman is entering his third year of arbitration, and this season pitched to a subpar 5.54 ERA in 102.1 frames, striking out 77 and walking 36.

Cumpton Elects Free Agency

Brandon Cumpton, Buffalo Bisons right-handed pitcher, has elected free agency, according to the MiLB transactions page. The 29-year-old native of Augusta, Georgia was previously a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates before joining the Jays on a minor-league deal mid-season.
