Toronto Blue Jays rookie Rowdy Tellez put himself into some pretty illustrious company with his sixth double in three games last night.

Rowdy Tellez tied Joe DiMaggio‘s American League rookie record of six doubles in a three-game span. The Jays first baseman hasn’t even recorded a single yet in his MLB career as he is 6 for 10 with the six doubles.

The rookie has endured an emotional rollercoaster over the past few weeks following the loss of his mother after a long battle with brain cancer. Tellez still managed to put up respectable numbers in Triple-A this season even though he was juggling baseball and his mother’s cancer prognosis.

Tellez hit .270/.320/.445 while leading the Bisons with 13 home runs in 112 games. He finished second on the team in doubles with 22 just three behind the team leader Dwight Smith Jr.

Tellez who could be Dioner Navarro’s doppelganger was called-up earlier this week and made his debut on Wednesday versus the Rays. The 23-year old slashed the first MLB offering he saw for a double into the gap off of Jake Faria.

He would follow up his pinch-hit debut the following night with a three-double effort versus the Cleveland Indians. Tellez would touch up Shane Bieber for a pair and Cody Allen going 3 for 4 with a run batted in.

The daily double continued last night as Tellez tied the all-time greats record by stroking a pair of two-baggers this time victimizing Carlos Carrasco. Tellez will attempt to keep the streak going today versus Adam Plutko who he doubled of off in 2017 while with the Bisons.

Tellez may continue to find himself in the lineup if he continues to hit at this torrid pace. The Jays future first baseman is definitely putting his name on the map and challenging for a spot on the team in  2019.

Next. Blue Jays could follow the Cubs’ blueprint to success. dark

Hopefully, Tellez can get Rowdy once again today.
