Aaron Loup was selected by the Blue Jays in the 9th round of the 2009 amateur draft making his MLB debut with the club in 2012. Loup owns a career 12-20 record with six saves and a 3.47 earned run average in 369 appearances in a Jays uniform. The 30-year old will join a 58-48 Phillies team who sit 0.5 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East.
The trade of Loup now catapults outfielder Kevin Pillar as the longest-tenured player on the team with 641 games. The Blue Jays are in the midst of a youth movement having traded John Axford, Seunghwan Oh, Roberto Osuna, J.A. Happ and Steve Pearce leading up to the deadline.
Surprisingly Curtis Granderson and Tyler Clippard still remain with the club as both were highly speculated to be traded before the 4 p.m deadline today. The Jays will undoubtedly look to make more moves in August however, players will have to clear waivers before anything can be done.
