The Major League Baseball Winter Meetings are officially underway at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resort in Orlando, Florida. Jays Journal will provide you with up to the minute coverage of any Blue Jays rumors or signings that unfold during the week.

The week should be filled with plenty of rumblings and happenings from all across the league now that the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes and Giancarlo Stanton deal are all but done. The meeting runs until Thursday with the Rule 5 Draft ending the week-long festivities.

The Jays have been quiet for much of the offseason with the exception of the Aledmys Diaz acquisition from the St. Louis Cardinals a little over a week ago. Yesterday the Jays were rumoured to have interest in utility player Josh Harrison who could provide manager John Gibbons with some much needed positional flexibility if the Jays can pry Harrison from Pittsburgh.

More from Toronto Blue Jays News

Thus far this offseason the Blue Jays have been linked to reliever Robbie Ross on multiple occasions, outfielder Jay Bruce and could dabble in the Alex Cobb bidding. Free agents off the table already signing with new clubs are Brandon Morrow (Cubs), Tyler Chatwood (Cubs), Luke Gregerson (Cardinals), Wellington Castillo (White Sox), Chris Iannetta (Rockies), Mike Minor (Rangers) Michael Fiers (Tigers), Doug Fister (Rangers) and Yusmeiro Petit (Athletics) rounding out some of the more household names.

The Blue Jays wish list include starting pitching, middle infield depth, an outfielder and backup catcher so it should be interesting to see what they can check off their to-do list this week in Florida. I would also expect them to be in on a reliever or two as well even though their bullpen is in decent shape rolling into 2018.
