Your Toronto Blue Jays news and notes for Wednesday, October 11th including a new birth in the Blue Jays family, another award nomination, and the Arizona Fall League kicks off in this installment of the Brew.

Arizona Fall League Kicks Off

The Arizona Fall League kicked off their season yesterday and none of the eight rostered Blue Jays were in the starting lineup for the Peoria Javelinas. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. entered the game as a pinch-runner in the third inning and remained in the contest going 1 for 2 with an RBI  double and run scored.

Canadian pitcher Andrew Case collected the save pitching a scoreless 9th inning as the Javelinas won the game 3-0 versus the Glendale Desert Dogs.

Pillar Family Brings A Little “SuperGirl” Into The World

Kevin Pillar announced on social media the birth of his little ray of sunshine yesterday. Baby Kobie Rae Pillar weighed a healthy 7 lbs, 9 oz and mom and baby are doing well. Pillar even shared a photo of the little “SuperGirl” on his Instagram account. Congrats to the Pillar family.

Donaldson Nominated For 2017 Hank Aaron Award

Third baseman Josh Donaldson has been nominated for the Hank Aaron Award which is awarded to the overall best offensive performer in each league. Donaldson won the award in 2015 while Jose Bautista took home the honour in back to back years in 2010 and 11.

Bo Breaks 54-Year Old Record

Teenage sensation Bo Bichette became the first teenager to win the Minor League batting title since 1963. Bichette finished the 2017 campaign batting .362 between stops in Lansing and Dunedin. Bo knows batting titles.
