Jays Journal takes its daily look into the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system, today looking at the AAA-A levels. The affiliates went a combined 2-1 on the day and will be looking to build upon their solid play on Tuesday.

AAA: Buffalo Bisons vs. Pawtucket Red Sox (Red Sox) – 6-3 win

The Buffalo Bisons and Pawtucket Red Sox began their four game series on Monday, with the Bisons taking game one by a score of 6-3. With the win, the Bisons now sit with an awful season record of 58-70.

Brett Oberholtzer started the game for the Bisons, and the veteran gave the team a very good outing. The left-hander went six innings, allowing two runs off of six hits and one walk while striking out six. Oberholtzer has been up and down so far this season, posting a 3.98 season ERA.

John Stilson and Carlos Ramirez (1-0) were the only two pitchers who saw action out of the bullpen for the Bisons. The first of the two to pitch, Stilson, went 0.2 of an inning, allowing one run off of three hits. The incredible Ramirez then came in to pitch 2.1 shutout innings, picking up the win after zero hits or walks.

To go along with great pitching, the offense also produced for the Bisons. The team scored six runs off of 12 hits and one walk – a total that will win a team most games.

The players to contribute offensively were Christian Lopes (2-5, HR, 3 RBI, R), Michael Saunders (1-4, BB), Dwight Smtih Jr. (2-5), Danny Jansen (4-4. 2 HR, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 R), Gregorio Petit (2-4, HR, RBI, 2 R), Shane Opitz (1-4) and Roemon Fields (0-3, R).

Jon Harris took the hill for the Fisher Cats, and while he struggled on Monday, his defense did not help him much either. The right-hander went five innings, allowing six runs (four earned) off of four hits and three walks. It has been a rough year for Harris, as he is sporting a 5.48 ERA for the season.

A: Lansing Lugnuts vs. South Bend Cubs (Cubs) – 8-7 loss
