Blue Jays’ Bradley Jones promoted to Dunedin
Toronto Blue Jays prospect Bradley Jones continues to mash minor league pitching and was rewarded with a promotion to Dunedin yesterday.
Bradley Jones is making a name for himself as he climbs up the prospect depth chart for the Toronto Blue Jays. After beginning the season with the Lansing Lugnuts Jones was promoted to the Dunedin Blue Jays.
The 21-year old slashed .326/.394/.560 with 9 home runs in 49 games with the Lugnuts. Jones is the first of the Lugnuts trio that included Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to receive the promotion, however, the other two should be soon to follow.
Jones played his first game yesterday with the High-A squad going 1 for 4 with a single and 3 strikeouts in his Dunedin debut.

The native of Travelers Rest, South Carolina is also valuable on the defensive side of things capable of playing multiple infield positions. This year in Lansing Jones spent time at second base (20 games), third base (13 games) and first base (8 games).
The Blue Jays selected Jones in the 18th round, 552nd overall in the 2016 amateur draft out of the College of Charleston. Last season in 61 games with Bluefield Jones batted a respectable .291 with 16 round trippers in his first taste of professional ball.
Recently Jays Journal contributor Jason Lee interviewed Jones and asked him what he attributes his development too:
“You know, I think the biggest thing is just finding my rhythm. Having a good approach at the plate, less than two strikes and with two strikes, we worked a lot on that in Spring Training this year and it’s just about buying into the things that they teach you so I really give a lot of credit to the coaches in the organization. Finding rhythm, finding timing, and just playing the game that you’ve always played.”
The Lugnuts also promoted 3 other players as Jake Thomas (New Hampshire), Zach Jackson (Dunedin and Jackson McClelland (Dunedin) all received the call-up.
To offset the void the Lugnuts added Rodrigo Orozco (Extended ST), Connor Eller (Dunedin), Nash Knight (Dunedin) and Osman Gutierrez (Disabled List) to fill out their active roster.
