Blue Jays MILB Recap: Bisons remain undefeated improving to 4-0

Jays Journal takes its daily look into the Toronto Blue Jays Minor League system as the Buffalo Bisons improve to 4-0 on the young season.

Buffalo Bisons vs Rochester Red Wings (Twins) 9-4 Win

T.J. House was dominant in his Bisons debut stymieing the Red Wings offence over 5 innings of work. The hurler only surrendered 2 hits while striking out 5 en route to the victory. Leonel Campos, Chad Girodo and Danny Barnes were all touched up for runs in relief, however, Barnes registered his second save of the season.

Jason Leblebijian and Juan Graterol paced the Bisons attack with 3 hits apiece although Leblebijian also added a solo home run and 3 runs batted in. Rowdy Tellez and Mike Ohman each had 2 runs batted in to help the herds cause.

Brett Oberholtzer takes the bump this afternoon opposite Aaron Slegers.

MVB – Jason Leblebijian 3-4 with solo home run, 3 hits, 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats vs Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies) 9-7 Loss

The Fisher Cats were on the losing end of a slugfest that saw both teams plate 3 runs in the 9th inning. Starter Jon Harris was hit around for 6 runs on 9 hits in only 4 innings of work. Carlos Ramirez came in relief of Harris and was brilliant pitching 3 scoreless innings while fanning 4. Murphy Smith and Tim Mayza also saw work out of the pen for the Cats in a losing cause.

Slugger Ryan McBroom stroked 3 hits including a double while knocking in 3 runs. Anthony Alford continued his hot streak reaching base 5 times with 2 more hits and 3 bases on balls boosting his average to .750 through the first 4 games. Gunnar Heidt also added a solo homer of his own.

Canadian Shane Dawson gets the nod tonight versus Brandon Leibrandt at the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

MVFC- Anthony Alford 2-2 with 3 BB, 2 runs batted in and 1 run scored.

 Dunedin Blue Jays at Florida Fire Frogs (Braves) 4-0 Loss

The baby Jays could hardly muster any offense versus the Frogs last night notching only 2 hits during the contest. Cavan Biggio and Connor Panas were the only two Jays to put balls in play safely for singles. Dunedin was able to work 7 free passes versus the Fire Frogs hurlers however they could not cash them in.

Conor Fisk lasted 5.2 innings while fanning 7 and surrendering 3 runs on 4 hits for a respectable outing. Josh DeGraaf, Adonys Cardona, and Kender Villegas all toed the rubber in relief.

Ryan Borucki gets the ball tonight as the Jays will attempt a better fate versus Luiz Gohara.

MVDJ – Connor Fisk 5.2 IP, 7 K’s, 3 runs on 4 hits.

Lansing Lugnuts at Bowling Green Hot Rods (Rays) 4-1 Loss

The Lugnuts lost a close-knit affair 4-1 to the Hot Rods, Lansing had a 1-0 lead until Bowling Green struck for 3 runs in the 6th inning and never looked back coasting to the victory.

Osman Gutierrez made the start pitching 5 innings issuing 2 earned runs while whiffing 5 in a solid losing effort. Dan Lietz also surrendered 2 runs in his 2 innings of work while Zach Jackson tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

Bradley Jones and Jake Thomas each had 2 hits including an extra-base hit apiece while Thomas also swiped home in the contest.

Vladdy Guerrero Jr. notched a single while Bo Bichette had the night off.

Andy Ravel will attempt to stop the skid as he gets the ball tonight versus Kenny Rosenberg.

MVL- Jake Thomas 2-3 with a double, walk, a stolen base of home.
