Blue Jays MiLB Report: Richard Urena delivers a triple-triple
Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for minor league games played on Wednesday, August 10th
Buffalo Bisons (59-59) – 1
Indianapolis Indians (58-61) – 0
Buffalo scored once in the bottom of the first and zeroes followed as the two teams combined for just eight hits. A Ryan Goins solo home run, his second with the Bisons, was the difference. Dalton Pompey, Jesus Montero, and Casey Kotchman all singled but Buffalo didn’t work a single walk.
Scott Diamond was excellent, throwing eight shutout innings with just four hits allowed, striking out six and not issuing a walk. Dustin Antolin slid back into the closer’s role with Ryan Tepera in the majors, closing it out with a clean inning (S, 9).
New Hampshire Fisher Cats (54-61) – 7
Bowie Baysox (49-67) – 4
Richard Urena set a Fisher Cats record with three triples, scoring three times and driving in one. He’s now batting .314 over 104 games between advanced-A and double-A this season. Shane Opitz hit his second home run of the season and Dwight Smith Jr. doubled with two RBI. Emilio Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a double. Speedster Roemon Fields stole his 39th base of the season.
Wilmer Font moved to 2-0 with six innings of one-run ball, allowing just two hits and striking out eight. John Anderson (2.0 IP, 2 H, ER, 2 K), Alonzo Gonzalez (0.0 IP, 2 ER), and Chris Smith (1.0 IP, 2 K) combined to secure the win.

Gunnar Heidt‘s 2-for-3 day with a double and an RBI led the way as Dunedin managed just six hits in seven innings. Anthony Alford went 0-for-3 with a sac fly RBI. Former first-round pick D.J. Davis went 1-for-2, but owns a .199 average on the season as his prospect shine has all but disappeared. Sean Reid-Foley got roughed up for five runs on seven hits over two innings, a rare poor start. Chris Rowley handled the final four frames, striking out four and allowing just two hits.

GAME TWO
Ryan McBroom launched his 18th home run of the season, a three-run shot as part of a four-RBI day. Anthony Alford also hit his seventh, going 2-for-4. Jonathan Davis tripled, singled, and scored twice in three at-bats. Jon Harris gave the D-Jays a much stronger pitching performance, throwing a complete game (7.0 IP) with just two runs against on four hits, striking out four.

Vancouver Canadians (20-31) – 2
Everett AquaSox (27-24) – 7
A Cavan Biggio triple was the only extra-base hit that Vancouver found, collecting just six hits in the game. Jacob Anderson had the lone RBI, going 1-for-3 with a walk. Joshua Palacios went 1-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with a run scored. T.J. Zeuch looked strong outside of the fourth innings, pitching five frames and allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out six. Nate Abel (2 ER) and Jackson McClelland (2 ER) both worked two innings of relief.

Home runs went to Juandy Mendoza, Ridge Smith, and Bradley Jones in an offensive outburst. Jones finished the day 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Javier Monzon went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 1-for-5. Kyle Weatherly have the Jays six strong innings, allowing just one unearned run and striking out seven. Fireballer Kelyn Jose (2.0 IP, 3 K) and Chris Hall (1.0 IP) closed it out.
