Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for minor league games played on Monday, August 8th

A three-run home run from catcher Danny Jansen in the fourth inning was the big bang for Dunedin. L.B. Dantzler went 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks. Ryan McBroom drove in a pair of runs and Gunnar Heidt went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs.

Luis Santos had a very difficult outing for the D-Jays, allowing eight runs (six earned) on nine hits over just three and a third innings. Jose Fernandez followed with one and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing one earned run and striking out two. Brad Allen then closed it out with three shutout innings, striking out four.

Lansing Lugnuts (58-56)   –   7
Fort Wayne TinCaps (54-6)   –   4

The top of the Lugnuts order had a strong day and all but one batter recorded a base hit. Andrew Guillotte went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk while John La Prise singled twice, scored, and drove in one. Ryan Hissey scored twice in a 2-for-3 day and first-baseman Justin Atkinson went 2-for-4.

Jordan Romano gave Lansing the start they needed, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out five TinCaps over five and a third. Starlyn Suriel picked up the win in relief, throwing one and two-thirds scoreless, before Kirby Snead allowed one run over the final two frames.

Vancouver Canadians (20-29)   –   3

Vancouver managed to keep it close despite being out-hit 12 to 5. Cavan Biggio had the Canadians’ only multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Joshua Palacios went 1-for-3 with a walk to move his average to .296 and stole a base.

Luis Sanchez allowed two runs over four innings on six hits. He struggled with control, though, walking five batters with just one strikeout. Geno Encina (2.0 IP, 3 H, ER, 2 K), Grayson Huffman (2.0 IP, 1H, 2 BB, K), and Nick Hartman (0.2 IP, ER, L) handled the relief effort.

Lance Jones went 1-for-3 with an RBI double, two stolen bases, and a run scored while Bradley Jones was 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Andrew Deramo was knocked around for eight runs on 11 hits in just two innings. Brayden Bouchey (3.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 K) and Angel Alicea (1.0 IP, K) handled mop-up duty.
