With the Toronto Blue Jays’ trio of trade deadline deals now in the rearview mirror, The Jays Nest Podcast is here to break down every detail involved.

Shaun Doyle of Jays From the Couch and I are joined by our resident Pittsburgh Pirates expert, the founder and editor of Pirates Breakdown Jason Rollison, to look at the Francisco Liriano deal from both sides of the table.

The Liriano deal, which beat the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline by less than one minute, has widely been deemed a clean sweep by the Blue Jays as they added two top prospects in Reese McGuire and Harold Ramirez as part of the package for Drew Hutchison. Jason offers up some great perspective from the Pittsburgh market, and offers up some analysis on the two prospects that you’ll find very interesting.

We also take an in-depth look at the Scott Feldman and Mike Bolsinger, who was recalled ahead of last night’s game to provide depth to the bullpen.

In an uncharacteristic twist, I admit that I “love” something, and it’s the addition of Bolsinger. While his statistics and track record do not inspire a great deal of short and long-term confidence, adding his team control in exchange for two months of Jesse Chavez is a savvy move by a Blue Jays front office that’s had a strong week.

The Aaron Sanchez conversation will be saved for a future episode, both for reasons of clarity and sanity, but he and Liriano are expected to make up the Friday and Saturday starts against the Kansas City Royals later this week. Beyond that, Sanchez is facing his now inevitable move back into a relief role.
