After their recent push and some division foes finding their level, the Blue Jays will be in some form of playoff race this season. Declaring the Jays as pure “buyers” is still premature, as the organization’s appetite to part with prospect capital is unknown, but there seems to be no scenario in which they are “sellers”.

With that in mind, Shaun and I look at the Blue Jays deadline needs. Perhaps needs is too strong a word (it is), but at minimum, there are positions that will be targeted over others.

We also circle back through the week that was do discuss umpiring, the Vic Carapazza experience, and how we think Major League Baseball can address this issue that we’re hearing all too much about in recent years.
