Toronto Blue Jays scores and analysis for Toronto Blue Jays games played on Monday, June 20th

Buffalo Bisons (37-34)   –   1
Louisville Bats (36-34)   –   4

Junior Lake led the way offensively going 3-for-4 with three singles and Matt Dominguez contributed a pair of hits himself, but Buffalo couldn’t produce much from their 13 base-runners. A.J. Jimenez had the lone RBI on a double, his 12th of the season.

Roberto Hernandez pitched deep, allowing four earned runs on eight hits over seven and two-thirds innings, but fell victim to the home run ball twice. Pat Venditte took over from there, handling the final inning and a third while striking out two.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (30-39)   –   6

Erie SeaWolves (31-41)   –   5

More from Jays Journal

Ryan Lavarnway launched two home runs and drove in three as he continues to be an excellent minor league addition for the Blue Jays. Rowdy Tellez, batting behind Lavarnway, enjoyed a 3-for-4 nights with three singles and a run scored to bring his average to .255. Both Roemon Fields and Jason Leblebijian contributed doubles from the top of the lineup.

Taylor Cole quickly ran his pitch count up to 93 in four and two-thirds innings by allowing seven hits and four walks, but did limit the damage to three runs (two earned). After Wil Browning (1.0 IP) and John Stilson (2.1 IP) both allowed a single run, Danny Barnes entered to earn his first save of the season and lower his ERA to 1.01 in 24 appearances.

Dunedin Blue Jays (31-36)   –   3
Brevard County Manatees (23-43)   –   2

An excellent return from the All-Star break was led by the usual suspects. Jonathan Davis hit his 10th home run of the year, collecting two RBIs on the day, while Ryan McBroom went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Catcher Jorge Saez and centre-fielder D.J. Davis both added doubles.

Justin Shafer bounced back in a big way, giving the D-Jays six innings of two-hit ball, allowing just a single unearned run to cross and striking out four. Jose Fernandez struck out two in his clean inning of work before Colton Turner picked up the blown save and win, allowing one run but striking out three in two innings.

Lansing Lugnuts (36-34)
OFF DAY

The Lugnuts are now on their All-Star break, a game which will be played on Tuesday before their season picks up again Thursday night at home against West Michigan.

Vancouver Canadians (2-2)   –   0
Everett Aquasox (2-2)   –   10

The Canadian’s didn’t have much go their way in this, but they were joined by 2016 draftees J.B. Woodman in centre and Cavan Biggio at second. Woodman’s double was the only of Vancouver’s three hits to go for extra bases.

Patrick Murphy got the start for Vancouver and pitched quite well, allowing three runs (one earned) in six innings of work. Stuart Holmes took some serious damage, allowing four runs on four hits and recording just one out, before Griffin Glaude worked one and two-thirds scoreless. Big lefty Matt Smoral then allowed three runs in his lone frame to close out the loss.
