Scores and analysis for Toronto Blue Jays minor league games played on Monday, May 16th

Buffalo Bisons (18-20)   –   4
Toledo Mud Hens (16-20)   –   1

The triple-A Bisons stayed hot with another excellent pitching performance from Canadian left-hander Scott Diamond. He allowed just one earned run, scattering eight hits over seven and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts and no walks. This lowers Diamond’s ERA to 2.39 on the season.

Ben Rowen and Pat McCoy recorded one out each before handing off to David Aardsma, who recorded his sixth save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Jesus Montero found his power stroke again, launching his third home run of the season in the first inning. He also doubled as part of a 3-for-4 day with two runs and two RBIs. Catcher A.J. Jimenez went 2-for-3 while leadoff man Dalton Pompey was 1-for-4 with a single.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats (18-18)   –   0

Portland Sea Dogs (14-25)   –   2

More from Jays Journal

The Fisher Cats managed just three hits against the Sea Dogs, who were led by a very strong outing from Aaron Wilkerson. Wellington Castillo and Dwight Smith Jr. doubled while Rowdy Tellez added the lone single.

Shane Dawson looked good on the mound despite taking the loss. The Canadian allowed just two runs on six hits over six innings pitched, striking out seven Portland batters. Brady Dragmire and Danny Barnes each worked a scoreless inning of relief.

Dunedin Blue Jays (15-23)   –   2
Fort Myers Miracle (22-16)   –   5

Devon Travis hit leadoff again for the Blue Jays, singling in a 1-for-4 day. Top prospect Anthony Alford went 1-for-5, but the entire Dunedin offence was supplied by Michael De La Cruz’s two-run home run in the ninth inning.

Brad Allen struggled in his start, allowing all five runs (four earned) on seven hits over four and a third. Right-hander Chris Rowley was a different story, though, not allowing a single run on just two hits over the remaining innings to bring his ERA to 3.81.

Francisco Rios is scheduled to make his second start of the season for Dunedin on Tuesday.

Lansing Lugnuts (18-16)

The single-A Lugnuts had the day off on Monday. Jon Harris (2-0, 1.45 ERA) is scheduled to start against the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Tuesday night.
